About Me

The name of my practise “Counsellor At Heart" is a genuine reflection of what I want to do with my time on this planet. I am a mum and have utmost gratitude for my family. As a person, one of my strengths is my caring and understanding approach. I have a genuine interest in helping people to make positive changes in their lives.

My approach is based on values of empathy, support and non-judgement. I aim to provide a space where people can speak honestly about the issues they are experiencing. My work is based on a collaborative approach to working with people as they navigate their way through the effects of problems on their lives towards a preferred understanding of themselves in relationship to what matters to them

I have extensive counselling experience. I have recently concluded working as a Counsellor at Dementia Australia. I have had considerable experience in clinical practice providing comprehensive services to families from wide variety of background.

Caring for someone with dementia can be physically and emotionally tiring and stressful. Families and carers can become isolated. Whilst I have worked with Dementia Australia, I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds and with varied challenges they could be facing from before,  while currently affected by the influences of dementia.

My recent role has given me exposure to a range of life challenges people could experience including, stress, anxiety and depression, trauma as well as grief and loss.

Over the years, I have supported many clients with diverse challenges as suitable and referred as appropriate.

Client's feedback:

"Thank you Vandita so much for your time and sharing your incredible knowledge with me. You have an amazing insight into people and you have touched me deeply. Thank you for your support in helping me overcome my helplessness and frustrations in providing care for my Mother with Dementia.
I have learnt a great deal in managing my expectations in caring for my Mother. However in the process of your counselling I have gained a huge insight into myself and this, I appreciate whole heartedly.
Vandita I wish you the very best in life’s journey and know you have my utmost appreciation for your work."
